Olympus E-30
The new Olympus E-30 is a semi-pro DSLR, offering filters and post-production features to the aspiring amateur. The E-30 is positioned between Olympus' E-520 and E-3 models. With a 12MP CMOS Sensor, hinged screen and Live View capabilities, the camera is a versatile unit capable of producing good results at low and high angles.

The E-30 has a top shutter speed of 1/8,000 and a typical 5fps burst mode, with the buffer capable of 12 RAW images per burst. The E-30 incorporates image stabilisation, reducing the cost of the lenses as there is no need for the technology to be built into the optics.

Olympus E-30 Puts the Studio in the Camera!
What sets the Olympus E-30 out against its rivals are the in-camera filter options. Similar to Canon, filters include Pop Art, Pale & Light Colour, Soft Focus, Light Tone, Grainy Film and Pin Hole. Although most users will opt to use Photoshop to post-process the images, having in-camera filters such as these will prevent the E-30 from becoming another also-ran to the likes of the Canon EOS 50D and Nikon D300.
The Olympus E-30 is due for launch mid January 2009, with price to be confirmed. As soon as the camera hits the shops we will detail all prices and availability in our Olympus E-30 prices section. |
